UK SMEs more forward-thinking and environmentally aware than their overseas counterparts

The UK's small and medium-sized enterprises, or SMEs, are more open to emerging technologies and the benefits of green IT than their global competitors, according to new research by industry association CompTIA. The report found that 65 per cent of UK SME's are "constantly" evaluating new technologies, compared to 51 per cent in the US and 29 per cent in Canada. In fact, more than half of UK respondents said that they are convinced that new technology is vital in staying ahead of the competition.The research also found that green IT was voted a top priority by 37 per cent...


IT sector “hardly affected” by economic woes, says EITO

Despite the effects of worldwide economic turbulence, demand for IT products and services continues to demonstrate strong growth, according to data recently released from market research organisation, the European Information Technology Observatory (EITO).EITO researchers forecast growth in the global IT market of 5.2% during 2008, to reach €963.5 billion (£777 billion). In fact, according to EITO chairman Bruno Lamborghini, overall weakening in the global economy has "hardly affected" high-tech sector turnover to date.For 2009, EITO's researchers expect slightly higher growth in the global IT market of 5.6%.
